Dieser Song entstand durch eine Traumsequenz, in der ich Elvis in einer Gesangsaufnahmekabine in einem Tonstudio singen sah. Ich dachte nur,wieso muß der jetzt auch noch Platten machen...Als ich aufwachte, wurde mir erst bewußt: Der Typ ist doch schon längst tot! Dann merkte ich, daß ich immer noch diese Melodie von Elvis im Kopf hatte. Er sang “He came like Yesterday” mit dieser eingängigen Hookline. Schließlich begriff ich, daß die Idee auf meinem eigenen Mist gewachsen war. Noch im Bett liegend strickte ich die Strophenmelodie im Kopf zu Ende und gleich noch die Bridge dazu. Aus “he” machte ich kurzerhand “she” und dachte mir die Story des Textes aus: Junges Mädchen von heute fährt voll auf die sechsziger Jahre ab, und Althippie denkt bei ihrem Anblick, als wäre noch wie gestern. Erst dann stand ich auf, ging an die Gitarre und schrieb die Nummer komplett auf. Dennoch...Thank you Elvis!
